Working together for better lives

Our mission is to help people with fewer chances to use their abilities and work together for better lives and stronger communities

community groups

Our public services face an immense challenge over the next few years. They will have less money but will be asked to do more in response to seemingly intractable social problems. In response to this challenge we are working in partnership with the NHS to support and encourage Community Based Preventative Health Initiatives that improve people's health and well being.

We promote and support greater community involvement in activities that help to change attitudes and behaviour so putting people more in control of their own Health and Well Being as well as the determinants that so clearly affect their quality of life.

What's special about this programme?
Through our Can Do Health programme we support and promote community based preventative health and well being initiatives through the engagement of local community groups and individuals. Can Do Health is unique as it takes an asset based approach to public health care. We always see the glass as being ½ full (not ½ empty) so focusing on the fullness of individuals and communities.  Can Do Health recognises that the people we work with are the 'experts' in their own health condition and that they know best what works for them to solve the problems that they are facing. Through the Can Do Health funding and support we offer we are able to support community groups to realise the full potential they have to bring about lasting and meaningful change within the communities they associate with.
